Anti-Sweat Treatments

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, can be a
life hindering and stressful problem for many people.

Botulinum Toxin A (BOTOX), which is usually known for its
use in anti-wrinkle treatment, is injected under the arm to block the chemical that stimulates the sweat glands. This significantly reduces sweating.

Prior to Botulinum Toxin A being administered, a Minor's starch-iodine test will be performed.

This involves a starch-iodine solution being applied under the arm, causing a purple colour change to the affected areas as the starch-iodine combine with perspiration.

This allows the clinician to establish the precise hyperhidrotic area in which to administer the Botulinum Toxin A to achieve the most effective result.

Please note - Prior to treatment, underarm area needs to be shaved and patients should abstain for applying anti-perspirants/deodorants 24 hours before treatment.

Treatment is usually recommended twice yearly.
